Yellow Butterfly - Sara Aue Sobol - presale
Yellow Butterfly is a collection of portraits made across countries and over years, yet the people, the rooms, and the gestures are bound together by a quiet mutation - an ongoing shifting of form and feeling. Like the butterfly itself, the work invites us to see transformation not as a moment, but as a continuous state: subtle, slow, sometimes invisible, but always alive beneath the surface.
At the end of the book, there is a poem in Danish and translated in English by Katharina Fredslund.
Katharina’s text breathes with this same spirit of change. It does not seek to pin meaning down but to open it up, to make space for the contradictions, tenderness, and wildness that move between the images. Her words become another layer of the project, a place where language and image meet in the shared act of becoming.
In Yellow Butterfly, the borders between self and other, body and space, presence and absence blur. In Katharina’s writing, these borders dissolve even further, reminding us that to be human is to be in constant transformation—fragile, fleeting, and yet profoundly connected.
